Raw chocolate from scratch!

This is a recipe that I created a while ago. It is still one of my favorites. No.. not only because I love chocolate, but because everybody loves chocolate. And what is better than to make it from scratch, just the way you like it! Definitely a case of ‘you don’t have to give up your favorite foods if you are vegan’. I love my chocolate bar with lots of yummy goodies in it: nuts, coconut, a pinch of salt, dried fruit. I like it all! Which is why this recipe has so many add ons. However, you can keep it plain. The basic recipe for this raw vegan chocolate is easy and just get creative with it! Enjoy!


So here you have the recipe for this awesome raw vegan chocolate:

  • 1 tablespoon of raw coconut butter
  • 2 tablespoons of raw cacao butter
  • 3 tablespoons of raw cacao powder
  • 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
  • big hand full nuts (preferably roasted or caramelized)
  • Coconut flakes – toast them in the oven for some crunch (4 min, 180 degrees celcius)
  • 2 chopped medjool dates
  • Pinch of Himalayan salt.

For the raw chocolate, melt your butters on low heat (below 45 degrees celsius to keep it ‘raw’) until they are melted completely. Then add the maple syrup and cacao powder until you get a nice mixture. The last step is simply adding all the ingredients and stir it together. Put it on a baking sheet or in a form and put it in the fridge until it gets hard. You can also choose to put some coconut flakes on top before putting it in the fridge, like I did.  Then you are done! Enjoy!
